DUBROVNIK BEACHES & ISLANDS GUIDE

Our personal collection of beaches and island getaways - starting from easy access beaches, and well known, and to the wilder, more secluded spots to escape to.

Banje beach Dubrovnik

Likely the most famous, yet busiest beach situated on the edge of Dubrovnik old town, minutes from everything. One side of the beach is occupied by the restaurant and beach bar with sun loungers for rent and other side is open to the public. Stairs access. Gets very busy in summer months. pebble and sand.

Sveti Jakov beach (St. Jacob’s beach)

If you are ok with 160 steps.. this is another popular beach with a restaurant and bar, and a small amount of room for non-paying sun lounge guests. Nice view of Lokrum Island and Old town and longest sunshine hours.

25 min walk from Old town or 5 min drive. water taxi boats also go and drop you at the small pier which is handy for carrying all your great beach gear! you can also set up your comfy chairs on the pier.

Tip: just around the corner is the ruin of the Belvedere Hotel, and some swimming platforms there which is a locals hangout. Pretty cool.

The Rocks *divocici

20 min walk east of Old town. Also plenty of steep stairs to reach this swim area which is not a beach but an expanse of seaside rock formations, some filled in to make for comfortable sunbathing. Here for an umbrella you would need a stand. Our cushioned seats, floats, and piknik would be great here *but do think of carrying it back up! Excellent swimming here with ladders into the sea and views of Betina cave, Dubrovnik and Lokrum island directly across.

Used to be just locals but has been discovered somewhat but still far less crowded than Banje beach.
